Run the Brighton Half Marathon or Brighton Marathon for WaterAid

Missed out on the London Marathon?  Don’t worry, WaterAid have places in two of the best sporting events of 2011, the Brighton Half Marathon AND the Brighton Marathon. We are busy recruiting runners to join our fantastic team; runners who will help support our mission to provide safe water, sanitation, and hygiene education to some of the poorest people in the world.

Last year, these two Events combined raised over £140,000 for WaterAid, which is incredible! That’s enough to build 2,800 handpumps, 7,800 tap stands or 175km of piping, changing the lives of thousands of people.

With your help, we plan to smash last year’s total and raise even more money for the world’s poorest communities.

Both events have very achievable fundraising targets, and in return for your dedication and commitment, we will be there to support you every step of the way. We will provide you with:

  • Exclusive WaterAid Marathon training day
  • A WaterAid running vest
  • Your very own fundraising and training pack
  • Continuous help and advice from our experienced events team
  • Fantastic support on the day with the loudest cheers when you need them the most!
  • Post race reception where you can meet your supporters and refuel on refreshments, and wind down with a free sports massage.

Brighton Half Marathon – 20th February 2011

Last year’s Brighton Half Marathon was a great success for WaterAid, and this year we want to make it even bigger and better!

Dalilah Baruti ran the race in 2010 and said “The atmosphere was absolutely amazing; it was unlike anything I’ve ever seen or been part of. It was great to see so many other people WaterAid and I would definitely run again as I get a great feeling of freedom from it”

If you want that same feeling of freedom then apply for a Charity place now!

Or, if you have already secured your own place, run for WaterAid and raise as much as you can! Own place runners receive all the same care and support as our charity places!

Brighton Marathon- 10th April 2011

Some people have to walk the equivalent of a marathon every day just to get drinkable water for themselves and their families. Help us try and change this by running 26.2 miles. Get sponsored by the mile, by the minute, or even run in a WaterAid toilet costume! As well as all of the fantastic support mentioned above, marathon runners will have an exclusive place at the WaterAid marathon training day held in London in February. Hosted by a personal trainer, it includes a practical session and tips on training, nutrition, pacing, and timing. A great day for runners of all abilities!

If you are interested in joining our team or know someone who might like to hear more information about running for WaterAid, then please contact our events team at events@wateraid.org or call us on 020 7793 2232.

Many thanks and best wishes
